Here are some jolly quick tips to bring out the #EverydayEnvironmentalist in everyone.

When wrapping gifts use:

  • Newspaper or maps
  • Bags & boxes that you have around the house - they don't need to be holiday theme!
  • Material bags & ribbons - you can find ribbon at opp shops!
  • Pillow cases - tie with a ribbon to look like it's from Santa!
  • Use material or burlap as wrapping paper - you can also look at opp shops.
  • Decorate with ornaments, leaves or herbs for a personal & natural touch
  • Reuse last year's cards w/ blank backs and cut up for tags
  • Find askets at the opp shops for hampers
  • Wrap in scarves or pashminas

Create presents...

  • Collect jars and make homemade sauces, spices & rubs
  • Find tea or coffee cups and fill with homemade cocoa or coffees
  • Make bath soaks with epsom salts & essential oils
  • Prepare a favourite dinner or dish including a fancy invitation - don't forget to set up & clean up after dessert
  • Make wreaths from leaves or branches and decorate with handmade gifts

You can also decorate sustainably...

  • Create a tree using driftwood and hand sewn ornaments with left over fabric or felt (see above)
  • Use last year's ribbons and hang on your tree or mantle
  • Find decorations at opp shops
  • Use a living tree or a cut off - one that lives with you all year that you decorate for the holidays

Little deeds can mean a lot. How will you live a bit more green this year?
