New Zealand Clean Up Week 2025 runs from 19–25 September, and it’s a chance for everyone - individuals, families, schools, businesses, community groups, and councils to make a tangible difference in keeping Aotearoa clean. Established in 1967 by the Government, Clean Up Week began as a national initiative to tackle litter. Over the past five decades, the challenges around waste have grown. Today, climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution are the three biggest impacts of waste, making community action more important than ever.

Utilising the latest technology Enviro NZ has commissioned a plant that processes unrecyclable plastic and other suitable materials, to create a fuel known as Process Engineered Fuel (PEF).
