Big rigs bring big smiles at annual track day

We might not have brought the speed, but we certainly brought the size to this year's Race 4 Life track day – two truck and trailer units used in bulk haulage, along with a tractor.

Enviro NZ goes back 12 years with this amazing charity that creates special memories for palliative care patients and their families.

"Every year this event just gets better,” said Race 4 Life organiser Viv James. ”We are very honoured and privileged to witness the joy it brings to so many."

This year a record 95 patients enjoyed a day of rides, which featured racing cars, Harley Davidson bikes, a helicopter and a fire engine.

"The purpose of the day was to give back to the community and provide an opportunity for a ride along in a real big rig," says Enviro NZ Refill Transport branch manager Troy Allen.

Enviro NZ's two new Mercedes Benz trucks provided "630 horse power of comfort for our guests," he said.

One of the special highlights was when a young patient got on our radio comms and chatted away to the team working at our nearby Hampton Downs site.
